The legendary American tennis player Serena Williams was present at the 94th Academy Awards ceremony to witness the very likely Oscar that would be taken, and ended up being taken by Will Smith, who played her father Richard Williams in the movie “King Richard“.
However, while seated next to her sister, fellow tennis player Venus Williams, Serena witnessed Will Smith open-handedly slapping Chris Rock, who made a joke regarding the premature baldness of Jada Pinkett Smith, the wife of the famed and now controversial actor.

The highest Grand Slam winning tennis player in WTA history shared her reaction to witnessing the aforementioned event and started her video with an image of herself with her mouth open in absolute surprise and shortly after she said what she did at the time of the incident.
“I just sat down,” Williams said.
She simply could not credit what was happening, when Smith stood up from her spot and punched the comedian’s face after he compared the actor’s wife to Demi Moore and her role in the movie “G.I. Jane” in which she shaved her head to perform her performance.
What upset Smith is that, unlike Moore, his wife has no hair due to a medical condition known as alopecia, which causes rapid hair loss.

After being awarded Best Actor, Will Smith in his acceptance speech, apologized to several people, and spoke about the father of Venus and Serena Williams.
“I want to apologize to the academy and I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees,” Smith said. “This is a beautiful moment and I’m not crying about winning an award. It’s not about winning an award for me, it’s about being able to shine light on all of the people. … Art imitates life. I look like the crazy father just like they said about Richard Williams, but love will make you do crazy things.”
