Brittney Griner is not the only American citizen detained in Russia, however, the case of the WNBA Phoenix Mercury player is by far the one that has had the most media coverage, however, there is an artist who has made a huge mural with the intention of raising awareness of these cases.
Brittney Griner’s teammate defends her character
Isaac Campbell thought for months of a mural with the faces of Briner and 17 other U.S. citizens detained in Russia and assembled it for 11 hours to be ready this Wednesday in Washington D.C. and in the case of the Olympic gold medalist, precisely her image was based on the photo of her wearing the Team USA jersey given to her by her teammates.

“We really need to put pressure on all people with any tools, whether that’s wheat-pasting, or whether that’s using your own personal platforms on social media to help apply pressure,” Campbell said to TMZ. “Or if you’re in any stage of government, and you can provide support and begin to help bring these people home.”
Campbell also told TMZ that few things would give him as much pleasure as seeing BG one day being able to take a selfie with this mural, as it would mean that he has returned home healthy, and that he has liked his work.
When assembling the 15-foot-high mural, Campell glued the huge photos provided by the Bring Our Families Home Campaign using flour, water and sugar to create a non-toxic, biodegradable glue with the help of family members of the people who were depicted in the mural.
What is Brittney Griner’s current situation?
It is worth remembering that Griner has a trial against her for drug possession, a crime for which she pleaded guilty and whose penalty according to Russian law can be up to 10 years in prison, her next hearing will be on June 26.
