Just when it seems like the Memphis Grizzlies‘ current situation couldn’t get any worse, bad news continues to cascade for the team with the second-best record in the entire NBA regular season, and again, this time, it has to do with the health of the face of the franchise, Ja Morant.

Grizzlies coach Jenkins says Morant is unlikely to play in Game 4AP

Morant did not see action in last Monday night’s 101-98 loss to the Golden State Warriors in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinal series after leaving in the fourth period of Game 3 after Jordan Poole grabbed his right knee.

The worst possible news for the Grizzlies

After some additional medical tests, including an MRI, Morant was diagnosed with a bone bruise in the aforementioned right knee, putting the doubtfull tag on his return not only for Game 5, but also doubtful for the rest of Memphis’ postseason.

The blow is a huge one for the Grizzlies, as although they have shown they can win in the regular season without Morant, in the series against the Warriors it has been far from easy for them to compete even with his presence.

One loss away from elimination against the Warriors

Memphis is one loss away from elimination and it looks highly unlikely that they can win three straight games to advance to the Western Conference Finals against the Warriors, who have squandered a 3-1 lead in a playoff series in the past, but it was in the 2016 NBA Finals, however, it happened with LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love at full strength for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

This year has been the year of Morant’s confirmation as an NBA superstar, as he won the Most Improved Player award and has become the most spectacular player in basketball today, in addition to leading, as we said before, the Grizzlies to a 56-26 record, the second best in the entire NBA only behind the Phoenix Suns‘ 64-18.
