The retired New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman has a good relationship with his ex-Quarterback and long-time friend Tom Brady. When news broke out about his sudden coming back from retirement to re-join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as their captain once again, Edelman used the Will Smith slapping Chris Rock meme to poke fun at Brady’s decision.

Edelman twitted a “Breaking News” image from his official account that he was moving to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he posted a picture where he was on the left and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers logo was on the right, it said Buccaneers signing Julian Edelman, and it was captioned as “Into the next chapter” with a pirate flag right next to it.

This was particularly believed because the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Rob Gronkowski directly from the New England Patriots

Last year Brady’s key tight-end Rob Gronkowski broke many Foxborough fans’ hearts by signing a contract to play with the Tampa Bay Bucs, which started the rumor that the Buccaneers would be a reunion for the Patriots championship team. Furthermore, Patriots center Shaq Mason also joined the Tampa Team, while Logan Ryan who won the championship with New England and transferred to the New York Giants also signed with the Buccaneers.

Although Tampa has avoided the notion that they were in fact recruiting more Pats for their team

It is still unknown if Brady is still on a recruiting campaign to sign more New England Players to Tampa Bay, and it has been a rolling gag among the two that Edelman would come out of retirement.

The April Fools joke did in fact work as intended, to add credibility to the joke, the NFL was in it as well, they retweeted the joke with a suspicious emoticon, making fans believe it could be true.
