While Kyrie Irving‘s future is up in the air, there are reports claiming that the other key member of the Brooklyn Nets, Kevin Durant, hasn’t talked to the club’s front office in weeks.
The two men joined forces at the Nets back in 2019 in their bid to lead the franchise to NBA glory. However, the team haven’t convinced with their performances over the last couple of years and their future remains uncertain.
“I don’t think Kevin is confident in the front office right now,” Logan Murdock of The Ringer said on The Mismatch podcast.
“I don’t know if he’s at the stage of leaving, but there’s a big uneasiness, from not only from the Kyrie side but the KD side as well.
“His biggest beef is that he feels that the front office didn’t grow to understand Kyrie, whatever that means.
“I would push back on that when a guy leaves for two weeks at a time. Kyrie earns the lion’s share of the blame.
“But I think KD believes that ‘hey, you guys didn’t understand this guy, you didn’t try to figure out where he was coming from’.”
According to Murdock, Durant wants to know which players are the team planning to sign in the event that Irving departs this summer.
The former Cleveland Cavaliers guard featured in just 33 games last season due to COVID-19 vaccination regulations after refusing to get the jab.

Murdock stressed that Durant has not asked to be traded, but he was not pleased that the Nets parted ways with team assistant Adam Harrington, who was also his former personal trainer.
“[Harrington‘s departure] had a big ripple effect on how Kevin feels about this right now,” Murdock added.
“He’s still in this figure-it-out mode but there is some fire to that smoke that he’s kind of re-evaluating where he stands with this.”
