Robert James Ritchie, better known in the music world as Kid Rock refuses to apologize for ranting against Oprah Winfrey and Joy Behar while drunk at his Nashville honky-tonk in 2019.
During an appearance made on an episode of Tucker Carson Originals on Fox Nation, the rapper stirred up controversy with a statement that sounds like a declaration of war.
Not one step back
“A drunk man’s words are a sober man’s thoughts, I own what I said,” he notes.
In the program titled “Life of a Rockstar,” the host visits the singer at his ranch and takes the opportunity to sit down and talk about a controversial event that took place almost three years ago when he insulted Oprah Winfrey and Joy Behar.
And is that, in 2019, TMZ spread some images of Kid Rock on stage shouting “f— Oprah Winfrey and f— Joy Behar”, an action that generated negative criticism to the rapper, because he was drunk.
However, now sober and cool-headed since many months have passed, Kid Rock points out that he does not intend to apologize to anyone.
“I’m not apologizing to anyone. I’m not a fan of Oprah Winfrey. I got drunk and, fuck, next thing you know, I’m on stage [saying] fuck Oprah…,” he said.
Apprehensive about Kathie Lee Gifford
In this sense, he only made a rectification in his controversial statements, as it was thought that they were also addressed to TV host Kathie Lee Gifford, being that they were actually for actress and comedian Kathy Griffin.
“Kathie Lee Gifford and I have been a bit of friends over the years…. I like her and feel a little bad for her.
I was trying to go after Kathy Griffin you know, for holding Trump’s head, but I’m so out of it that I say ‘f— Kathie Lee Gifford.’ “, she acknowledged.
It is noteworthy that, last March, Kid Rock released the Rock album, Bad Reputation, but by ranking at number 124 on the Billboard 200 chart, the musical proposal fell far short of the success achieved by his eight previous albums, all of them ranked in the top 10 in popularity.
