Following up with the whole Kyrie Irving mess, Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai and his wife Clara met in person with the point guard. After their meeting, Tsai tweeted something that definitely puts Kyrie closer to ending the five-game suspension he earned for promoting an anti-Semitic film and book. Sharing that through his social media is what brought him so many problems with the Jewish community. But it also made him lose millions of dollars in sponsorship deals within a few days.

Even Nike executive Phil Knight came out in public to say they will probably stay away from Kyrie Irving and said the player crossed the line. But other figures such as LeBron James or NBA Commissioner Adam Silver have recently defended Irving from the anti-Semitic label that was placed upon him. With Silver even specifically saying he doesn’t believe Kyrie Irving is anti-Semitic in any way after having a meeting with him last Thursday. These are good steps towards cleansing the player’s reputation that he lost in a short period of time. The Brooklyn Nets were the next in line with a meeting that took place on Friday.

Joe Tsai opens the door for a Kyrie Irving return

Before this meeting between Kyrie and Tsai, the Brooklyn Nets leadership was under the impression that the player actually had anti-Semitic ideas. Tsai’s recent tweets madeit seem like he changed his mind about the player. This is what he wrote: “Clara and I met with Kyrie and his family yesterday. We spent quality time to understand each other and it’s clear to me that Kyrie does not have any beliefs of hate towards Jewish people or any group. The Nets and Kyrie, together with the NBA and NBPA, are working constructively toward a process of forgiveness, healing and education.”

Now that this confirmation happened, there is a lingering question on whether Kyrie Irving will return to full acctivity with no more issues or not. All signs point at an imminent return but all those millions lost remain as a cautionary tale for the player. When you go against the establishment through misinformation and what looked like hate speech. You will not get too far without getting completely canceled and ostracied. In hindsight, Kyrie Irving only needed to see what is currently happening to Kanye West and take the rapper as the perfect example. We might get to see Kyrie Irving donning the Brooklyn Nets jersey after the suspension has passed.
