However, the most surprising fact of this decision in which all NBA teams agreed is the Lakers signing up for it.
Given their historic rivalry with the team from Boston, one of the petitions from the Celtics might rub some Lakers fans the wrong way. But the team from Los Angeles and its leadership decided to make one of the most sportsmanship gestures probably in sports history. But considering everything Russell did on and off the court, most people will understand the legendary status he boasts even after his passing. Fortunately, those Lakers fans who don’t like having a treble inside their court will only have a endure it for a single season. Although, Lakers winning the championship next season with that treble will bring a lot of bullying coming their way.
Considering the long-lived rivalry between the Lakers and the Celtics, perhaps the oldest purple and gold fans are the ones who won’t like this gesture. For many years, they suffered at the hands of Bill Russell and lost numerous finals against him.
