Australian rugby player Liam Hampson has died after falling from a height of 10 metres in Barcelona’s Sala Apolo, in what the Catalan police believe to be an accidental death..

The police received a call from some of the employees who work at the Barcelona nightclub and found the lifeless body of the player.

Hampson was also listed as missing by the Catalan police. During his disappearance, the Barcelona nightclub continued as normal and even held a massive concert by the English band Paradise Lost.

Liam Hampson reported missing

It began when another player, A.J. Brimpson, posted a message on his Instagram account in which he drew attention to the disappearance of his colleague and highlighted that the last time he was seen was in the early hours of the morning at the aforementioned nightclub.

Specifically, Brimpson said that they had not seen him for 39 hours after their last contact at the Sala Apolo and attached a photo with the clothes he was wearing. In addition, Hampson reportedly left the nightclub at 04:30.

An initial hypothesis suggested that the player accidentally fell from a height of 10 metres. Brimpson explains that Hampson was traveling with a group.

In his report, Brimpson also pointed out other aspects.

“I was with a group and it was strange,” he said. “They were on holiday together with several players from their league. Hampson had recently swapped the Tweed Seagulls for the Queensland Redcliffe Dolphins.

“I can’t put into words how I feel. We love you brother. I’m so sorry,” said Jordan Riki, one of his friends, on Instagram.
