The next task for Real Madrid this summer is to finalise the departure of Luka Jovic, who is set to join Fiorentina on a free transfer.

There had been talk about a loan move, but in the end he’ll leave on a free transfer and Fiorentina will pay all of his wages.

But, Real Madrid will still own 50 percent of the striker’s rights, so would receive half of any future sell-on fee.

Therefore, they could still recover some of the 60 million euros they paid for the player in 2019, when he arrived from Eintracht Frankfurt.

His contract with Real Madrid was until 2025, but now he’ll sign a new deal with Fiorentina and commit to the Italian club until 2024.

This won’t be the first time that Jovic leaves the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, as he also returned to Eintracht Frankfurt on loan last season after failing to live up to expectations in the Spanish capital.
