The second round of March Madness came to a close Sunday night, completing the NCAA Sweet 16 bracket with a thrilling 85-80 overtime win by No. 1 seed Arizona Wildcats over No. 9 TCU Horned Frogs.
While Arizona managed to avoid the upset, No. 2 seed Auburn Tigers and No. 3 Wisconsin Badgers both lost to the underdog team in their respective games. Wisconsin fell to No. 11 Iowa State Cyclones by five points while Auburn lost to No. 10 Miami Hurricanes by 18, and now the two underdogs will face off in the Sweet 16.
Sweet 16 bracket features Duke vs Texas Tech
The main attraction of the next round will be No. 2 Duke Blue Devils vs No. 3 Texas Tech Red Raiders, with each team coming off a much different win. Duke displayed its offensive strength in a high-scoring 85-76 victory over No. 7 Michigan State Spartans, while Texas Tech pushed past No. 11 Notre Dame Fighting Irish 59-53.
Another Sweet 16 matchup for the ages will be betwen No. 11 Minnesota Wolverines and No. 2 Villanova Wildcats, who defeated No. 7 Ohio State Buckeyes 71-61 on Sunday. During Saturday’s batch of games, Minnesota head coach Juwan Howard led his side past No. 3 Tennessee Volunteers.
