Olympian Mary Lou Retton is doing an interview with Today co-host Hoda Kotb on Monday, her first since being released last year from the hospital.

The teaser sees Retton claiming she almost died from the experience and was almost placed on life support. The teaser clip released features images of her with breathing tubes hooked up. Retton is still on oxygen.

At the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, she won a gold medal in the individual all-around competition, as well as two silver medals and two bronze medals. The victories made her one of the most popular athletes in the U.S. and earned her a spot on the Wheaties box.
