The issue of sexual assault and misconduct continues to be a recurring theme in U.S. sport, and on Tuesday another scandal came to the forefront as three former athletes and a female employee of U.S. Ski and Snowboard accused longtime former coach Peter Foley of sexual misconduct.
The four individuals, all female, whose identities have not been disclosed, filed an appeal with the U.S. Center for SafeSport, an agency that is authorized by Congress to address issues in amateur sports related to sexual abuse.
Foley is no longer a national coach
According to a report by ESPN’s Alyssa Roenigk and Tisha Thompson, last Friday, the aforementioned U.S. Center for SafeSport provisionally suspended Foley for the allegations, which were filed last week and as of Sunday it was announced that he was no longer working as a national coach.
The aforementioned reporters got, under anonymity, the four women their testimony and from one of them, an Olympic medalist, was obtained this statement of an incident that would have occurred when this woman was instructed that she would have to sleep with her teammates in the same bed while waiting for a flight the next day, she was 19 years old.

“I was on the edge of the bed and I was asleep and at one point I feel someone (Foley) sneak in behind me in the bed,” the athlete said. “(The coach) reached his left arm over my body and put his fingers inside me.”
“I just laid there,” she said. “I remember just laying there in shock. It happened for a while and it just stopped and he got up and left.”
Sexual assault scandals are not limited to amateur sports, the most remembered on the subject of gymnastics, but also 22 women filed vivid lawsuits of similar conduct to today’s Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson when it comes to professional sports.
