Robert Lewandowski, Barcelona’s flashy signing for this season, has revealed with which retired player he would’ve loved to have as a teammate.

The strikers response has surprised a few, but he chose an all-time great like Zinedine Zidane, the sensational French midfielder.

“I need maybe more assists, maybe I can choose Zidane”, he said while smiling during his interview with ESPN.

His answer isn’t crazy, but it didn’t sit well with some of Barcelona’s fans, who acknowledge Zidane as a huge legend of their fiercer rivals Real Madrid. But Lewandowski proved his honesty and expressed his admiration for the former player.

His new rivalry with Karim Benzema

During the interview he also commented on his signing for Barcelona and how he had always dreamed of playing in LaLiga.

It’s in LaLiga where he’ll find what could be his newest rivalry, coincidentally with another French player.

Karim Benzema is the leader of Real Madrid’s offensive system and Lewandowski knows it and has praised him for his game, avoiding any comparisons with him.

“He’s an amazing player, as he showed on the last Champions League. I don’t want to compare myself to him because this is a new challenge for me, while he has been her for a lot of years and he proved last year how good he is.”

Lewandowski hasn’t scored with Barcelona yet

Robert Lewandowski has played in the last two preseason games with Barcelona, and while he looks to be adapting well and getting back to his best form, he still hasn’t been able to score his first goal as a ‘culé’.

He’ll try to end his dry spell today when Barcelona takes on New York Red Bulls in what will be their last preseason game in ther United States tour.
