Cristiano Ronaldo declined the opportunity to regain his position as the highest-paid footballer in the world. Al-Hilal reportedly made him an offer for a two-year contract of 242 million euros on Monday afternoon.

The Saudi Arabian club intended to make the Portuguese striker the absolute reference of a club that have had players like Luciano Vietto, Alvaro Gonzalez, David Ospina, Santi Mina, or Alvaro Medran.

Although MARCA were able to establish the proposal’s existence after reports emerged in Portugal, Ronaldo‘s current plan is to stay at Manchester United or at the very least to play at the highest level for the foreseeable future.

The Portuguese tried to leave Old Trafford this summer to find a team that would provide him with Champions League football. He feels that he is not getting the enjoyment he seeks at Manchester United, yet he insists on staying in Europe.

The truth is that the Portuguese has temporarily lost his spot in the first team, and it appears that it won’t be easy to get into Erik ten Hag‘s plans.

Cristiano’s failed attempts to seal a move

In July and August, Cristiano was linked with Atletico Madrid, Marseille, Sporting Clube de Portugal, and even Napoli.

However, nothing was ever close to happening and he ended up having to stay put in Manchester.

Al-Hilal’s offer for Cristiano Ronaldo

Al-Hilal were willing to pay Cristiano Ronaldo 121m euros annually, but the forward doesn’t want to leave Europe’s elite leagues just yet, despite not playing in the Champions League this season.
