NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is famous for his strict measures when it comes to players directly disobeying the law or doing questionable things like Aaron Rodgers did. Even if that ayahuasca trip didn’t directly affect his physical performance on the field, it is still an illegal drug that he consumed. According to the United States Government, Dimethyltryptamine (DMT) is a scheduled 1 substance.

Ayahuasca contains a natural form of DMT, which makes it illegal for Aaron Rodgers to consume it in the United States. However, he traveled to South America to consume this substance, meaning he didn’t break any laws inside the country. However, the NFL Commissioner must still be fuming at the PR nightmare this can bring to the league’s image.

Can Aaron Rodgers get a call from the NFL?

During a recent TMZ approach to ESPN’s Shannon Sharpe, the former NFL star was clear when he pointed out he has nothing against what Aaron Rodgers did. But he also stated that the NFL could definitely give him a call for saying this in public, regardless of his status as one of the best players in the league.

Here’s what Sharpe said: “I’m sure the NFL is probably going to give him a call and say, ‘That’s not a good look’.’ I don’t know if the NFL is too happy about him taking hallucinogenics, I’m sure the commissioner is going to reach out and have a conversation with him. It seems weird to me but whatever helps a person become a better person and find his inner self, I’m cool with it.”

During the show where Sharpe co-hosts alongside Skip Bayless, the veteran broadcaster agreed with Sharpe on Goodell’s possible call to Aaron Rodgers. We still have to see how the Commissioner reacts, he very well could decide to suspend Aaron Rodgers for his comments. In his view, the Green Bay Packers quarterback could be giving a bad example to children with his views on psychedelic drugs.
