Stephen Curry has suggested that his first technical foul of the season was received on purpose to try and improve the atmosphere at the Chase Center.

The Golden State Warriors beat the Kings 116-113 on Monday night and Curry later explained why he got his technical foul and the benefits that it brought to his team.

“I think it’s the mentality of, ‘We just needed a little bit of energy and a little bit of fire,’ ” Curry explained on Warriors Postgame Live after the game. “Draymond [Green‘s] been amazing, trying to push the tempo, bring our defensive presence that we haven’t had all year.”

The 34-year-old went on to say that with his technical, he hoped to raise the energy level in the arena from the fans and from his teammates as the game progressed.

“Our core and our vets, we know how to do it,” Curry said. “I just needed to light the fire a little bit, kind of get the crowd into it, get our team into it and let them know we’re here.”

He said that it made the crowd and his teammates more energized and that is what led to them getting the victory.

After mentioning how Klay Thompson and other teammates performed in the final quarter, he suggested that there is a lesson for them all to learn.

“It’s a lesson, still, of what level of intensity you need to get to, just to win a regular season game because winning in this league is extremely difficult,” Curry concluded.

Overall, Curry finished with 47 points on 17-of-24 shooting, 7-of-12 from the 3-point line, with eight rebounds and eight assists along with zero turnovers.
