Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons is worried about the current state of the NFL, and its conscientious efforts to protect quarterbacks. Two calls this weekend, in particular, have angered the star defensive player to the point of airing out his frustrations on Twitter.

The 2021 AP Defensive Rookie of the Year is fed up, and called out the league that employs him: “The NFL is terrible! Change the rules or just make the league 7 on 7!!

Parsons was already upset at the officiating in the Cowboys vs Rams game on Sunday. On one play in particular, he was clearly held and a flag was never thrown.

“We won’t call this but we’ll call a roughing the passer lol! Can we focus in and protect defensive players?”, he captioned a picture which shows his being held by a Rams offensive lineman.

The Cowboys second year defensive star was particularly upset at a roughing the passer call on Chiefs defenseman Chris Jones, who seemed to tackle Derek Carr in a standard way, even recovering a fumble. The controversial ruling was maintained. “These (are) game changing calls man!”, Micah Parsons exclaimed.

Analysts and fans alike side with Micah Parsons

NFL analysts and fans alike are on Parson’s side, something seems to have to change. While Parsons tweeted that “they want us to play like we’re in the Pro Bowl”, others chimed in with similar takes.

Like Super Bowl-winning coach now analyst, Tony Dungy, who said: “This is not football anymore. I know we have to protect the QB but Chris Jones was recovering a fumble. We have gotten ridiculous with this.”

The NFL wants to make football safer, but seemingly something has got to give.
