While the start of the NBA season draws nearer, all eyes are on Kevin Durant and where he will play.
The team most heavily linked with a move for the forward are the Boston Celtics, who seem to be doing what they can to make a move possible.
Shams Charania of The Athletic recently gave an update on how talks between the two sides are going, and he noted the Celtics have made several players untouchable.
“The Celtics are considered league-wide as the team with the pieces to make a deal with Brooklyn a reality,” he said.
“At this time, Boston has not included Marcus Smart or Robert Williams in talks.”
Although Boston may have the pieces to make a trade a reality, it remains unclear whether they’re ready to take the step that would put it over the finish line.
The Celtics reached the NBA Finals last season and seemed poised to be contenders for the long-term given their current core.
Built around Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, they still have plenty of time to improve as well.
