The Carolina Panthers started week 10 of the NFL with a surprising 25-15 victory over the Atlanta Falcons in the traditional Thursday Night Football, however, the Charlotte team was not the top winner with this result, that honor belongs to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Before the start of Week 10, the NFC South, the division that the Falcons, Panthers and Buccaneers share with the New Orleans Saints, was the only one in the entire NFL in which all four teams had a losing record, an issue that could be maintained if Tampa Bay loses on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.

But regardless of the result Brady’s team obtained in the first-ever NFL regular-season game in Germany, the Bucs will finish Week 10 as the NFC South leaders because even if they lose, they would put their record at 4-6, the same as that of the Falcons and the best record to which the Saints are aspiring when they visit the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.

In the scenario that the Buccaneers, Falcons and Saints are tied at 4-6, the divisional tiebreaker would have to be used, in which case Tampa Bay (2-1) would be ahead of New Orleans (1-2) and Atlanta (1-3).

Carolina, with the best record in the NFC South

At the bottom of this division would be Carolina (3-7), which, however, would be just one game out of the lead and with the best divisional record (3-1) after the aforementioned victory against Atlanta, have not won a single game outside the NFC South.

In short, the seven-time Super Bowl winners can travel to Munich and the Allianz Arena with a lot of peace of mind, because no matter what happens, their place in the postseason, for now, is in no danger.
