Even though the other two are title fights at UFC 273, the fans are eagerly waiting to see what Khamzat Chimaev can do against Gilbert Burns, the No. 2 contender in the Welterweight division. President Dana White has been getting Chimaev more and more opportunities to show what he is made of but fighting Burns has to be his biggest challenge to date as a professional UFC fighter. Although he has already been dominating his opponents with no apparent effort, getting inside the octagon with a man who already fought for the belt is an entirely different animal. However, most of us trust that Chimaev truly is an incredible fighter who arrived at the UFC to take over.

Initially, it was believed that if he got to defeat Gilbert Burns next Saturday a title shot against Kamaru Usman would be possible. However, president Dana White just revealed what will definitely happen if the hype turns out to be real from the Chechen monster. During an interview on ‘The Patt McAfee Show’, White wasn’t planning on it but he paused and offered a massive scoop right there on the show. You can see how excited McAfee is for Dana White blessing him with this news, everybody was wondering where Khamzat was going next if he wins Saturday’s fight. Now, beating this next opponent after Burns should definitely grant him an audience with the ‘King’: Kamaru Usman.

Who is Khamzat Chimaev fighting next?

If we can read between the lines, there is an evident preparation for the scoop Dana White just offered. Colby Covington is the certified bad boy of the UFC, especially after his recent altercation with Jorge Masvidal. However, the man puts his money where his mouth is and truly goes all out against any opponent. Usman nearly lost the fight against him and he dominated Jorge when they fought each other. The only natural way for Khamzat to go if he wins next Saturday is Colby, Dana revealed it on McAfee: “I think that if Khamzat Chimaev wins this weekend, we see him and Colby Covington next. I have a fight coming up on ABC, and in a perfect world, if everything plays out right, I would love to do Khamzat vs. Colby if Khamzat should win on Saturday night.”
