Colin Kaepernick has been training with the Las Vegas Raiders as he attempts to make an NFL comeback.

The 34-year-old quarterback hasn’t played in the NFL since 2016 when he began to highlight racial inequality and injustices by protesting during the national anthem of the United States of America.

In the past six years, this is just the second time an NFL team has officially brought him in to run the rule over him, after the Seattle Seahawks had him in for a visit in May of 2017.

On that occasion, however, he did not take part in practice drills.

In November 2017, Kaepernick filed a grievance against the league itself, accusing the NFL and its owners of colluding to keep him out. This case was eventually withdrawn in February 2019 after a settlement was agreed.

The Milwaukee native still dreams of an NFL return, however, and sources have told ESPN that the workout went well in Las Vegas but that no deal is imminent.

In the years since he last played professionally, Kaepernick has become more heavily involved in political activism, founding his own organisations, as well as donating to various other bodies, particularly those combatting racism and police brutality.

In April 2022, his children’s picture book ‘I color myself different’ was published by his own Kaepernick Publishing company in collaboration with Scholastic.
