A Huddersfield man has been given a suspended sentence after sexually assaulting a woman on a train travelling from Doncaster to Sheffield.
Muath Dahdal, 24, from Colne Road in Sheffield, has been sentenced to 26 weeks in jail suspended for 18 months. This comes after being found guilty of sexual assault at Sheffield Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, September 7.
He has also been ordered to pay £300 in compensation, £200 in costs and he must sign the sex offenders register for seven years.

On Thursday, October 13, 2022, the victim was travelling on a Northern train from Hull. Dahdal boarded the train in Doncaster and sat next to her, reports the British Transport Police.
Throughout the trip to Sheffield, Dahdal carried out a “sustained sexual assault” while sat in silence. The victim and Dahdal left the train separately at Sheffield.
The woman then approached a British Transport officer on the platform and reported the assault. He was then identified by the victim and arrested as he left the station.
Investigating officer DC Lucy Broadbent said: “This was a horrible ordeal which left the young woman shaken and traumatised.
“Dahdal showed no remorse for his actions, denying the sexual assault and answering no comment in interview.
“We take all reports of sexual harassment and unwanted sexual behaviour seriously and will support victims throughout our investigations.
