Joseph Herbert Jr: All about Jo Koy’s Son from His First Marriage

Joseph Herbert Jr. is not only Jo Koy’s son but also the butt of some of his famous father’s jokes. Most people would hate it, but “Little Joe” is different.

Jo Koy is one of the funniest comedians out there. He has broken records for the most tickets sold by a single artist and for selling out more shows consecutively than any other comedian at different venues, including the Neal S. Blaisdell Concert Hall in Honolulu and the Warfield in San Francisco.

Koy’s son, Joseph Herbert Jr., often is the target of his jokes. Instead of getting mad about it, Herbert Jr. has joined his father on stage. Will he be the next comedian in the family?

WHO IS JOSEPH HERBERT JR., JO KOY’S SON?

Herbert Jr., affectionally called Little Joe, was born on April 21, 2003, when Koy and his Filipino-American ex-wife, Angie King, were still together. More about King later. 

Koy often says that his family and son give him more material for his stand-up comedy routines than stability, which is why Herbert Jr. is the butt of some of his dad’s jokes.

It is essential to point out that Koy knows what lines not to cross when he writes jokes about his son. He ensures he doesn’t bag on Herbert Jr., and the boy feels proud when his friends laugh at his dad’s jokes. 

The comedian revealed that his Filipino heritage is present in Herbert Jr.’s life (even though he has not taught him much about it) because other Filipinos surround him.

Herbert Jr. spent almost a month in the Philippines to see where his grandmother grew up. Koy revealed he and King have always treated their son as a friend, and their relationship is unique.

Koy and his son like the same music and go out together frequently. Herbert Jr. even picks out Koy’s clothes when they go shopping, and while Little Joe is not that active on social media, he often appears on Koy’s Instagram posts.

Koy’s parents are one of the reasons Koy and King are still close.

WHO IS ANGIE KING, JOSEPH HERBERT JR.’S MOTHER?

Coming back to Herbert Jr.’s mom, Angie King is an artist and singer better known as Nura Luca. The details of King and Koy’s relationship are scarce. They began dating and tied the knot before Koy made it big. 

Unfortunately, they couldn’t make their relationship last forever and divorced in 2013. King moved on and is dating Mexican skateboarder and painter Gino Perez. King and Perez own a clothing line called Mexican UFO.

HOW IS ANGIE KING’S RELATIONSHIP WITH JO KOY?

Although King and Koy divorced almost a decade ago, they are still good friends. When the comedian turned 50 in June 2021, King posted a photo on social media and called him “best friend.” Even Perez wished Koy a happy birthday on Instagram.

Koy and King are such good friends that they were quarantined together in 2020 to be with Herbert Jr. throughout the pandemic. Koy’s parents are one of the reasons Koy and King are still close.

Their divorce was “ugly” for many years and affected their kids, so the comedian didn’t want the same for Herbert Jr. What a great way to co-parent!
