Shane Gillis, a comedian who got unceremoniously dismissed from SNL after less than a week on the job, keeps details about his girlfriend out of the media after a previous experience with a creepy fan.

Although Gillis protects his girlfriend from the public, not even mentioning her name or posting her pictures, he has spoken about how they met and other general details about their life together.

Additionally, Gillis has spoken about his past experiences in the dating world. That includes moments where he has been dumped for being on the road too much and his sexual encounters with fans.

Shane Gillis Met His Girlfriend on Instagram

Gillis is an active social media user but mostly shares information relating to his work, such as show highlights and promotions, on Instagram. That has left little room for posts about his personal life, as the comedian prefers keeping that out of the spotlight.

Luckily for fans, he is more open about his private life in interviews, especially on podcasts. Appearing on “Your Mom’s House” podcast in September 2021, Gillis revealed that he had been in a relationship for about six months and that the couple had become acquainted on Instagram.

A year later, the comedian was still in a relationship as The New Yorker quoted him saying his girlfriend was out of town while discussing his rise and fall. It is unclear if it is the same girlfriend mentioned on the podcast the previous year.

However, there is a good chance that it is still the same woman considering Gillis spoke about being in a two-year relationship in 2023. While randomly discussing some notable things about her, he mentioned that she is from Iowa and she doesn’t drive.

He dove deeper into the discussion about his love life, saying that the couple enjoyed hanging out and that she loves that he is a hard worker and was understanding when he had to work long hours on Valentine’s Day. He also added that his communication skills are pretty bad to the extent that he bought a house without telling her.

Shane Gillis’ Ex-girlfriend Received Unwanted Attention from a Fan

The comedian told the story when a guy emailed his ex years ago. The guy found the school she worked at, got contact details from a directory, and sent her an inappropriate message.

The message contained foul language, bemoaning why she had left Gillis. Gillis pointed out that he had publicly discussed being hurt by the breakup and was saddened when it led to such an unfortunate event.

It seems the fan had taken his story out of context as the former couple had a seemingly mutual break up. Gillis had moved to another city, and the ex’s unwillingness to get into a long-distance relationship resulted in the breakup.

Gillis also spoke about another time when he got dumped by his then-girlfriend for being on the road too much. Additionally, he played video games whenever he wasn’t on the road, which also affected their relationship.

Furthermore, Gillis has hooked up with some female fans while on tour. On one occasion, when he was around 30 years old, Gillis had a sexual encounter with a woman in her late 40s to overcome nervousness before a show. The comedian also confessed that he gets asked for sex from women on many occasions, including catfish moments.

A Scandalous Episode in Shane Gillis’ Career

Gillis is famous for his comedy. However, he also had an infamous period in his career when he allegedly used a racial slur, which is now frequently brought up whenever his name is mentioned.

The stories about Gillis being racist peaked in 2019 when it was announced that he would join NBC’s hit satire comedy show “Saturday Night Live” as a cast member. Some fans did not receive the news well and voiced their disapproval of the appointment based on his alleged racist comments.

The backlash led to Gillis’ dismissal from the show less than a week into his new post. The comedian was adamant that he meant no malice in his jokes as they were meant just for comic purposes but had been blown out of proportion by the new woke culture.

Although he described the situation as stressful, Gillis was happy that he was a good enough comedian to be considered for something as big as “SNL.” He received support from “SNL” veterans like Rob Schneider and Norm McDonald. His career did not end there, and the comedian is scheduled to appear in “Bupkis” starring Pete Davidson.
