Paris Saint-Germain right-back Achraf Hakimi has made clear that he will stand by Kylian Mbappe regardless of whether the Frenchman decides to stay in Paris or join Real Madrid at the end of the season.
Achraf also discussed his close relationship with his teammate and stressed that Mbappe is one of the finest players worldwide.
“My relationship with Mbappe? It has been spontaneous,” Achraf told Telefoot.
“From the day I arrived, when you meet someone like him, your age, with the same personality, the same character.
“We are two children. Everything is fluid, it is natural.
“Mbappe is one of the best in the world and he is my friend. I want him to stay here, he knows it. He will decide what he thinks is best for his career. And I will support him.”
Achraf also expressed his frustration about PSG’s elimination at the hands of Real Madrid in the Champions League Round of 16.
“It is difficult to realise that we are out of the Champions League,” he added.
“We had the mechanisms to go through. The truth is that I cannot explain it. Even today, when I think about it, I do not understand it.
“I understand that the fans are sad, we are [sad] too. At this level, the small details make the difference, we have to correct them next year. That’s what will make us champions.”
