The family of Brock Purdy don’t go to many San Francisco 49ers NFL games, as he is still just another kid in the complex league, and it’s hard to shine.

In Week 14, the 49ers hosted Tom Brady‘s Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Purdy‘s parents bought tickets.

Then, they were met with something beautiful. Their son was on the pitch and putting in a beastly performance, defeating the best of all time.

Brock Purdy’s road to the NFL

Purdy has been on quite the journey to get this day of celebration. Purdy was the last pick of the 2022 draft, the 256th, known as ‘Mr Irrelevant’.

But, the Niners were hit by injuries and needed a quarterback in a hurry. The call was clear. You’re up, Brock.

He happened to come against Brady’s Bucs and his parents, who hadn’t necessarily bought those tickets to see their son, were in the stadium.

He posted 185 yards, three touchdowns and conjured up a 35-7 crushing of the Bucs.

Mr. Irrelevant was already relevant and, as soon as the camera panned to his parents, tears welled up in their eyes.

Brock Purdy’s post-game quotes

“I saw them right after the game and just the emotions after the game, and the way they looked at me from the railing, it just means a lot,” Purdy told reporters postgame.

“Just throughout my whole life, the ups and downs of playing quarterback in general, high school then college, they’re the people at home who believe in you and they always see the best in you.

“They believed in me even when I was the last draft pick.

“They’ve always been telling me, ‘You’re good enough and we know that you can do it,’ so to see them after that performance, it meant a lot to me. I’m very blessed to have them as my family.”
