Luka Modric and Real Madrid have reached a definitive agreement for the Croatian to continue at the club for another season.

His standard of performances shown throughout the season has once again been the main reason for the former Ballon d’Or winner to extend his stay at Madrid.

The desire of Real Madrid‘s directors was clear and, as MARCA announced, it was only a matter of time. Both parties wanted to extend the deal and a single conversation was enough for Modric to complete what will be his eleventh season at the club.

As with his last renewal, the new deal will be for one season, with no increase or decrease in salary.

The midfielder has not closed the door on playing for more seasons beyond next, as he acknowledged at the MARCA Leyenda award ceremony a fortnight ago.

The idea that the directors of Real Madrid have in mind is to find a place for the Croatian within the squad, but as long as he continues to show this level, his place will be on the pitch.
