As Bill Belichick parted ways with the New England Patriots after 24 years, one of his worst calls ever has come to light after he claimed Tom Brady was “done”, before he went and won a seventh Super Bowl.

Brady, the most integral player in Belichick’s dynasty, left the Gillette Stadium in 2019 aged 43 and chose to head to the warmer southern state of Florida to link up with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

There, he gave his legacy one last boost to cement his status as the greatest NFL player of all-time by winning a seventh Super Bowl ring as the Buccaneers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9 at the Raymond James Stadium.

However, Belichick had never anticipated this and thought Brady was over the hill and that he needed to be moved on, something that allegedly happened when the quarterback was as young as his early 30s in the 2010s.

Former Patriot accuses Tom Brady in a song he dedicates to Bill BelichickTwitter

“Bill had told me he couldn’t play anymore,” Kraft said to ESPN. “And then he goes out and wins the f**king Super Bowl.”

Brady threw for 40 touchdowns that season and in the three years after the Patriots, added an extra 108 to his career total showing that he definitely had enough to play competitive football.

Belichick, meanwhile, managed one winning season in the wake of the departure and ended his time in New England with a 4-13 record, ironically with the young quarterbacks being a glaring branch of criticism.

Belichick not done yet

Despite the departure, Belichick has no plans to retire as he closes to within 14 wins of setting the NFL record for most wins of all-time by a single coach.

There are a host of teams vying for a new coach this offseason such as the Las Vegas Raiders, Tennessee Titans, Los Angeles Chargers and the Carolina Panthers so the sport could easily see the veteran leader back in the game before not long.
