The Champions League is Karim Benzema‘s tournament this season. The No.9 is vital for Real Madrid and he delivered again at Stamford Bridge against European champions Chelsea on Wednesday.

He was brilliant from the off, and he made yet another opponent know just how good he is and how lethal he can be. He is unstoppable.

In the 22nd minute, Benzema put a perfect ball through for Vinicius Junior, and sniffed an opportunity. He made his was into the box and met the cross, brilliantly heading into the top corner. It was a great goal.

He got his second three minutes later. This time a cross from deep from Luka Modric found him with a bit of space, and he dispatched another fine header past Edouard Mendy to double Los Blancos’ lead. It was similar to Lionel Messi‘s header against Manchester United in Rome in 2009.

Benzema got his hat-trick a minute into the second half, pouncing on mistakes from Edouard Mendy and then Antonio Rudiger. Benzema closed down brilliantly to force the errors, much like against Paris Saint-Germain and Gianluigi Donnarumma in the previous round.
